StoryCorps OutLoud is a project to record and preserve the voices of LGBTQ individuals across the nation. Sharing our stories honors the history, struggles, and character of our community, and preserving them in the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress will ensure all voices and experiences are celebrated and remembered for generations to come. Through StoryCorps OutLoud we hope to:
- Honor the lives of older LGBTQ individuals, many of whom have lived through landmark events of the LGBTQ experience in America.
- Bring LGBTQ generations together so that the younger generation can learn from and value the lives, experiences, and wisdom of their elders.
- Include many more LGBTQ voices in our archive at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.
- Share and broadcast voices of the LGBTQ community for millions to hear.
