We recently learned of World of Opera host Lisa Simeone’s participation in an Occupy DC group. World of Opera is produced by WDAV, a music and arts station based in Davidson, North Carolina. The program is distributed by NPR. Lisa is not an employee of NPR or of WDAV; she is a freelancer with the station.
We’re in conversations with WDAV about how they intend to handle this. We of course take this issue very seriously.

NPR Opera Host Fired After Speaking for Occupy D.C.
Lisa Simeone, the freelance host of Soundprint and World of Opera, confirmed on Thursday that she had been dismissed after National Public Radio discovered she had been working as a spokeswoman for Occupy D.C. Simeone has been talking to the press on behalf of the offshoot of Occupy Wall Street since early October, but the news of her involvement only reached the public radio network’s headquarters this week.
